We have overcome! Wynn told me that I was a glutton for punishment, but I took Rea to the mall in Denton for Santa pics this morning. She did great! Santa was running a little late, and Rea climbed up in his chair and waited on him. It was a little hard trying to get her to look at the camera. She was much more interested in talking with Santa. She carried on quite the conversation, so I guess that means she has a lot more on her Christmas list than I thought.

Have you ever been standing in line at the mall waiting to get your kid’s photo taken with Santa, and you see that one poor mom who’s child is running off, screaming and flailing about on the floor? Well that was me today. I was so proud; I had planned for Erin, Alicia, Rhiannon and I to all meet at the mall today and get all the kids’ photos taken and then afterwards we were going to all go out to lunch. Erin even brought her mom and aunt. Plus Alicia brought her mom, so we really had quite the nice group for our lunch plans. Then Reagan struck! We didn’t even make it to the front of the line. She kept on to the point, I had to get out of line, leave everyone else standing there, and take her home. I was so embarrassed and mad. I’ve since decided that I will persevere and try again tomorrow. After all, every year we’ve had either an unhappy, crying or terrified Santa photo, why should this year be any different?

Here’s just a little insight into what’s to come on Dec. 7th at Rea’s first dance recital. She has one more dance practice before the recital. She needs about 6 more months, but that’s ok, she’s destined to be the one to make everyone laugh. Today she jumped out in front of everyone else, and shook her booty with everything she had. All the moms burst out laughing…that was it, Rea was hooked. The “real” show began at the moment, with Reagan trying new things then stopping and looking to see who was laughing. She’s certainly a little entertainer.

It’s amazing to sit back and watch your child grow and learn and hit new milestones in their lives. Some milestones are exciting, some are a little bittersweet, and well…some are just downright disgusting. Right now we’re at disgusting. Reagan has begun to pick her nose and eat her boogies. Gross little joker! Let’s all hope that this phase passes quickly.

Reagan LOVED the popcorn for the tree, but she had a very unique method of putting it on the tree. As you can see, I start at the top and make my way to the bottom. Not Reagan, she balls up as much of it as she can and just throws it at the tree to see where it sticks.

Reagan really liked helping decorate the Christmas tree this morning. This is her helping me put the berries on the tree. She did really well, other than putting them all in the same spot. She hasn’t quite mastered the idea of spreading the ornaments out over the entire tree.

I wish I had a good photo to go with this, but they were all too blurry. While decorating the tree today, Reagan found the stockings in one of the containers. She just knew they were new socks for her. She put one on each foot and walked all around the living room. Of course she was wearing her Santa hat at the time. At one point, Wynn and I took all the empty boxes back upstairs, and when we came back down, she was walking around with one stocking on, her santa hat, and all my extra Christmas fabric as a cape. She looked like some sort of bizarre Christmas super hero.

Needless to say we had more than one turkey at our house this year, but at least only one of them was running around on the loose.
Rea has worn this hat almost the entire day. She even wore it to WalMart when we took a much needed break from being cooped up in the house all day. Reagan really seemed to enjoy her Thanksgiving meal. Her favorite was the pumpkin patches (a.k.a. pumpkin pie). Now it’s time to rest up for all our Christmas decorating tomorrow. Rea is VERY excited about putting up the tree and reindeer.

Rea is so funny. She’s in a phase where she announces everything she’s doing. Her favorite is to say “I’m run-nen” as she takes off thru the house. She also really likes “I’m lookin,” and for that one she always puts her hand up to her forehead and looks side to side. A couple nights ago, we even heard her talking in her sleep, saying “backyard, I’m run-nen, I’m run-nen.”

We were playing around yesterday trying to do some more Christmas photos of Rea, as well, as some maternity photos of me. I thought this would be a cute shot. I just wish Wynn had told me that my hair was in my face. We just might have to take this one again.
