revenge of the nerds

revenge of the nerds

You know, I never thought I would be one of those people who used medical tape as a quick fix for a pair of glasses, but then we had Reagan and anything and everything became possible.

We were going to take Rea for a quick walk yesterday evening, and she got so excited that when she ran for the door she slammed face first into the door frame.  Needless to say, she snapped her glasses like a twig.  We took her for an eye check up this morning and was going to run by the optical store when we were done, but they were closed, so out came the medical tape and a little nerd was born.  smile

shrek the third

shrek the third

We took Rea to see Shrek the Third this morning.  She had so much fun.  As soon as the Dreamworks music began, she hollered out “Shrek!” She sat between Wynn and me and got to snack on popcorn and drink soda the whole movie.  She would reach for some popcorn and then look at us and say, “tanks.” She only got out of her seat 2 or 3 times, and Wynn would ask her if she was ready to go, and she would say no and sit back down.  After the movie, we had lunch at McDonald’s and she got two new Shrek toys with her happy meal.  So, basically today, was “Reagan’s Day of Fun!”

the penguin did it

Reagan just couldn’t seem to fall asleep for her afternoon nap today.  Usually that means she has a dirty diaper waiting on me, so I went up to check on her.  I opened the door to find a little naked butt sitting on the carpet, and Reagan working hard to put the wet diaper she had taken off on a stuffed penguin.  It was so funny!  Reagan was quite proud of herself, but I was just glad it was only a wet diaper.  That penguin has no idea how close he came to being a goner today.  smile

peek-a-boo

peek-a-boo

Reagan thought it would be fun to play a game of peek-a-boo with Tootsie today.  Let’s just say that Tootsie was not amused…not even a little.  Rea would pop up, and Tootsie would get mad and growl at her.  Of course, Rea thinks it’s hilarious when Tootsie growls at her.  Luckily for Tootsie, Reagan quickly became distracted by something else.

This is Reagan with her flash cards.  She loves them.  We got them for her a few months ago.  They’re for kids age 4-6, but they have very basic pictures on them, so we’ve been using them to help build Rea’s vocabulary.  I think there are about 53 cards in the set, and she now knows all but about 2 or 3.  She’ll run and and get them out of her toys and say “flass cards” and bring them to us to go thru them with her.  We figure as long as she thinks its fun, why not.  smile

nice try mom, but i’m not going to eat those carrots

Reagan has a love/hate relationship with carrots these days.  One week she loves them, one week she hates them.  We’re in a hates them week right now.  At lunch today, she downed her chicken and potatoes, and then looked at me and said “all done.” Every last carrot was still sitting on her plate.  I managed to distract her and get her to eat one bite, but when I tried for a second spoonful, she grabbed a cracker and shoved the whole thing in her mouth.  It worked, no more carrots…at least not today.

that’s my boat

Another picture of Reagan in her pool.  She calls it her boat.  Have no idea why…

what do you want me to do…dive???

what do you want me to do...dive???

Poor Reagan has been couped up with me since I’ve been so sick.  It was such a nice evening that I let her play in the back yard for a while today.  She had so much fun.  She played in her pool for the longest.  She doesn’t need water in it to have fun.  Nana and I laughed so hard watching her jump out and dive back into it.  Of course she refused to come back inside, until I lured her in with some skittles.

pasta time

pasta time

This is Rea eating some angel hair pasta for lunch the other day.  I guess she really liked it, because she closed her eyes and just dove right in.  At one point, I looked over and she had a huge glob of it hanging from her mouth all the way down to her plate.

big sister Rea Rea!!!

Wynn and I are very excited to announce that we’re expecting our second baby!  I have an appt. for next Monday when we will get the official due date, but based on my calculations sometime around Dec. 27th.  I have severe morning sickness with this pregnancy just like when I was pregnant with Reagan, so my days involve a lot of lying around and bland foods.  I think Reagan will be a great big sister.  I asked her last night if she wanted a little brother or a little sister, and she answered with “sister.” But, I asked her the same question a little later, and she answered with “Shrek.” I think for now she’s just enjoying staying in her pjs all day like me, and snacking on mini vanilla wafers, and getting to take naps with me in the afternoons.  smile
